Daniel J. Kaczorowski, 82 years old, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home following a brief illness on Monday, January 15, 2024. Daniel was born to the late Walter and Lucille Kaczorowski on April 1, 1941. He graduated from, St. Joseph High School in 1959. He was a Dayton Flyer before graduating from IUSB. On August 17, 1963, he married Dolores Herma. Together they had six children Douglas (Tina), David (Amy), Deborah (Bud) Blower, Deron (Amie), Drew, and Don (Alisa).
Over the years, Daniel worked in purchasing for various companies including National Cash Register in Dayton, OH, Hedwin Corp. in LaPorte, Solvay Automotive, Honeywell, and South Bend Controls.
Daniel was very active in Corpus Christi Athletic Association, and Chet Waggoner Little League while his children were growing up. More recently, he was involved in St. Casimir’s Married Men’s Club, Copperfield Villa HOA, and St. Joseph Funeral Home Board of Directors.
Daniel was an active parishioner at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, he was a man of deep faith. This past August Dan and Dolores celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He would say his best years were the 60 he spent with his loving wife and the adventures they shared together, He truly cherished the love they shared and family they grew. Dan was an avid Cubs and Dayton Flyers fan and enjoyed following most sports in general. He loved traveling, cruises, and Disney World. Daniel was social, good-hearted and believed in the worth of friendship. Devotion and loyalty were traits he valued and instilled in everyone around him. Dan was a loving friend and family member who touched countless lives. He was especially proud of his children.
In addition to his children, Daniel leaves behind 10 grandchildren- Steven (Marie), Nick (Natalie), Mary, Elizabeth (fiancé Evan), Andrew, Melody and Paige (Blower), Oliver, Georgia, and Charlie plus 4 great-children – Lucy, James, Luna, and Leif. He also leaves behind sister, Lorie Rauch and brother-in-law, Tom (Deane) Herma along with many nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his sons, Douglas and Drew, and most recently by his sister, Judy Phillips.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at St Joseph Funeral home located at 824 South Mayflower RD, South Bend IN 46619 where a rosary will be prayed at 4:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, January 19, 2024 at St Casimir's Catholic Church located at 1302 W Dunham St, South Bend, IN 46619. Burial will immediately follow at St Joseph Cemetery.
