Carl M Szymanski

Carl Szymanski, 84 years old, peacefully passed away at his residence on Monday, October 23, 2023. 

Carl was born on July 31, 1939 to the late Stanley and Alice (Swiatowy) Szymanski. On February 1, 1964 at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Bend, Carl married Barbara Bargielski, who survives.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara; son, Tony Szymanski; sister, Barbara Summers; and many nieces & nephews.

Carl was a 1957 graduate of Washington High School. He then honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Cuban Crisis. From 1963 to 1985, Carl raced cars at South Bend Motor Speedway, where he won the championship in 1985. Carl also owned and operated the Speedway Marathon in South Bend, and then Earnie’s Auto Parts in Niles, Mi where he retired.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN. Father Luke Okoye will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Carl Szymanski to the donor’s choice.
