Bonnie L. Pica, 89, of South Bend, IN passed away on September 26.
She was born on July 17, 1936 in South Bend to the late Donald F. and Esther (Przybylski) Cronkhite.
Bonnie graduated from Greene Township High School, class of 1954. She worked for 8 years at the M.B. Skinner Co. as a transcriptionist. Later in life, she continued her education at Ivy Tech and worked in Student Services at Ivy Tech. She also worked in Adult Education at the SB Community School Corporation.
On May 5, 1962, she married Peter A. Pica, Jr. at Holy Family Catholic Church of which they both belonged.
Bonnie loved to travel, visit with her friends, play with her grandchildren when they visited, and go to the casinos.
Preceding Bonnie in death is her husband Peter (Pete) A. Pica, Jr., her son Thomas (Thom) A. Pica (Sayaka), and all of her siblings: Marie Lancaster (Frank), Dolores Miller (John), Ruth Miller (Vernon), Donald D. Cronkhite, and Ronald Cronkhite (Jennie).
She is survived by son James Pica, daughter Nancy Renken (Frederick), eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was a beloved mother, a room mother, a member of the PTO, a devoted daughter, and a good friend. She had an eye for detail, amazing organizational skills, and loved singing in the church choir.
A mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, October 18th at 12 pm with a visitation at St. Joseph Funeral Home starting at 10 am. A graveside burial and lunch reception at the American Legion will follow. She will be cremated and buried at St. Joseph Cemetery.
