Anne Lisa (Steinke) Janke

Anne L. Janke, 69, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family in her daughter’s home.

Anne was born in South Bend on November 16, 1954, to Carlton and Phyllis (Biggs) Steinke. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Bryan Carpenter, and brothers, John & Carl Steinke.

Left to cherish Anne’s memory is her husband, David Bruce Janke; her children, Matthew Carpenter and Cynthia (Michael) Goodreau; step-daughter, Tara (Josh) Bullock; grandchildren, Reymond Ponce, Faith (Mitch) Shreves, and Michael Goodreau; step-grandchildren, Katie and Roy Janke and step-great-grandchildren; brother, Tom (Linda) Steinke; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Steinke.

Anne worked for the South Bend Clinic for 33 years. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Anne enjoyed baking, shopping and collecting antiques. She also enjoyed doing crafts and going to St. Joseph, Michigan to walk on the beach. Anne loved spending time with her family, especially baking cookies with her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2023, in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd., South Bend, with a Funeral Service to begin at 4:00 pm in the funeral home.
