Alfreda "Fritzi" Banicki, 99, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 in the Milton Home.
Alfreda was born on March 01, 1925 in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Constance (Karpinski) Cencelewski. On August 22, 1942, Alfreda married the love of her life, Benedict M. Banicki, he preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by two sons, Benedict J. Banicki, and Dennis P. Banicki; brothers, Joseph, Richard, and Fred Cencelewski.
Left to cherish the memory of Alfreda are her granddaughters, Rebecca Watson and Deborah (Mike Delaney) Kazden; great-grandchildren, Sean Davitt, Derek Moran, Nick Kazden, and Amanda Kazden; and several nieces and nephews.
Alfreda retired from Uniroyal after 38 years. She was a member of the Harvest House, St. Cecelia Choir, Sisters Auxiliary, Rosary Sodality, American Legion Post #357 Aux., Daughters of Isabella Circle #1, Hoosier Grandmothers Club, St. Stanislaus over 50 Club, Golden Cluster of St. Hedwig, and volunteered with the Memorial Hospital Aux.
Alfreda enjoyed playing cards and board games at Fairington Apartments. She also enjoyed her “Walkers Track Friends” at Miami Trinity Church. Alfreda loved Notre Dame Football, watching golf on TV, and going on bus trips to casinos.
Alfreda wished to express her appreciation to the following: Betty Haluda, for visiting every Sunday and providing holiday door decorations. Donna Magyar, for her daily phone calls. Greg Banicki for never letting a holiday go by without a flower or visit. Bob Cencelewski and Sharon Rozewicz for sending cookies every month. Caryle Neff for taking care of all necessities.
Visitation for Alfreda will be 11:00 am to 12:45 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2024 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN with a Rosary to begin at 12:45 pm and a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
