Allen Schlundt Obituary

Allen Schlundt passed away on March 8, 2024, at the age of 85 due to natural causes.  He was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1938 to Elmer and Lotti Schlundt.  He attended South Bend Central.

In 1962, Allen married Jeannine Paczesny in South Bend, and together they had two sons, Gerard and Trell. Sadly, they also had an infant who died at birth.  Allen served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1964.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Elmar and Lotti, his sister Barbara Coder, brother Carl, and nephew James Pickens.  He is survived by his wife Jeannine, and two sons Gerard and Trell along with sister Joyce Pickens, nieces, and nephews, Janet Pejza, Nancy Bangle, Gail Chark, Christine Miller, Kathleen Johndrow, and Jean Park, as well as Micki Valentine, Dani Mackmer, Naomi Frost, and Kimberly Myers.

Allen enjoyed working at Pickerels Greenhouse, Kaiser Jeep, which later became AM General, before going to work and retiring from The University of Notre Dame as a groundskeeper.  After retirement, he spent his remaining years making the world a beautiful place by gardening, playing the organ, and engaging in various arts and crafts projects.  Allen was known for his quick wit and practical jokes.

A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery on March 21 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Biscuit Factory Animal Rescue, an organization that Allen greatly appreciated.  BFRescue.com/donate or via mail to Biscuit Factory Animal Rescue 207 N State Street, P.O.
